Identity Design

Identity design is focused on creating symbols that represent people, ventures and ideas. In over a decade of working in this field I have designed many of such symbols. Some of them are brands and logos for companies, some are personal sigils and monograms. My personal style is highly geometric and typographical. However, as an art director I can find my clients the illustrator talent that can work in many other styles. Below you will find just a few examples of identity designs created and directed by me.

Print Design

Print design covers all manner of sins, from simple cards to huge billboards and everything in between. I have a special love affair with designing for paper, ink and special finishing processes. Business cards, personal calling cards, invitations, bookmarks, calendars, CD covers, brochures, booklets, drink coasters, flyers, stationery: you name it and I have most likely designed for a product in that category. Below you will find a small sample of my work with printed matter.

Book Design

Book design has always had a special place in my heart. I am an avid reader and also a writer, so every aspect of book design has naturally been of interest to me. This work can be meticulous, tedious and very intense, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It is a very special feeling to hold a printed book in my hands and know that every aspect of it has received my attention. Below you will find a brief glimpse into some of the books I have worked on.

Bio

My name is Igor Brezhnev. I have practiced art direction and graphic design in Phoenix, Arizona for over a decade. Now I am at the wheel of my commercial art direction, graphic design and consulting practice in beautiful Portland, Oregon.

I am also an author and an artist. You can find out more about these areas of my life and my current projects on my personal website at www.igorbrezhnev.com.

Practice

Over the course of the last decade I've developed a strong background in identity, print and book design. I have designed for clients in a variety of fields and company sizes located all over the world. My work has been featured in graphic design compilation books, print design inspiration blogs and has won awards. I especially enjoy working with artists, musicians, writers, masters of crafts and individuals with strong sense of purpose that help making lives of others better. The goal of my practice is to help my clients craft and deliver their messages to their audiences, utilizing knowledge of graphic and typographic design, visual and verbal communication, history, linguistics, sociology and psychology, that is at my disposal.

Rates

My rates are based on Graphic Artists Guild Pricing and Ethical Guidelines Handbook. I employ a sliding scale based on my client's budget, number of iterations of design required by the client and time available. I view my work more as delivery of a product and less of an hourly service, so each estimate is as unique as the product being created. However, the average time rate in recent projects has been $50 per hour with discounts to repeat clients and those with long-term projects.

I prefer initial contact to occur over email. This allows you to consider and prepare the description your project and its scope, any questions you might have for me, and, in turn, allows me to provide you with in-depth, well thought through answers in writing.

Please include in your email all relevant details of your project, any due dates that will have be met and the budget for your design project, as well as a production budget for print projects.

I usually respond within 24 hours of receiving your email or voicemail.

You can also follow and contact me in regards to graphic design and art direction on facebook.
